Skyler- The Rockstar Artist of the World

Skyler is an artist, or at least he is drawing 24/7. He has periodically gone through phases of being totally focused on certain things. The first thing that I remember was his fixation with hammers, and not the "play" ones...oh no, he wanted the real thing! Balls lasted for about two weeks. Then it was guitars, monster trucks and sharks. Then most recently it has been dinosaurs and dragons.

So, now we are to drawing. And this is an obsession that seems lasting. It began way back almost a year ago during the monster truck phase and his artwork has progressed along with his interests. First we had the monster truck drawings. Here is my personal favorite that I have kept stashed away! Most of his monster trucks focused on the "monster" part and had to have big, sharp teeth and usually had teeny-tiny wheels, thus making sure it was a monster "truck". This was one of the few that had big wheels.

Then Skyler moved into drawing sharks.

He has spent most of his time drawing dinosaurs, specifically T-Rex's. He doesn't like drawing nice dinosaurs.

And here we have a whole dino scene including a leaf-eater eating the tree, a lizard climbing the tree and a snake on the ground whose tail is being grabbed by a little dino!

His latest obsession is drawing dragons. Kyle bought him a "how to draw dragons" book and he looks at the pics and tries to draw them from the pics he sees.

He is really quite good and we love having him doing what he loves. One down side though, we are going through a lot of paper (and it ends up all over the house)...we will have to plant a few trees to make up for it!
